Kahurangi Vin Rouge is a mare with huge potential, huge heart and a huge jump! In the showjumping ring she gives it absolutely everything. Her spectacular jump usually gives at least a foot to spare over any fence, while tucking her legs up with extreme care. At the moment we are currently showjumping her in competitions to New Zealand's One Star Grand Prixs (Height 1.45m Maximum) and shows potential to go further in the future.

Kahurangi Vin Rouge was bred by current owner Gael Schultz and is sired by Valiant of Kahurangi Stud. Valiant is also the sire of Grand Prix horses Kahurangi Tardak and Kahurangi Valentino. Valiant is by the legendary showjumping sire Galoubet. Her dam Amber Ness is a thoroughbred by Paq-Asa, who is the sire of New Zealands champion racehorse of the '80's Bonecrusher. Maybe thats where she gets her competitive edge.

With Kahurangi Vin Rouge I have won and been placed in many championship classes. The highlight being the 2008 New Zealand Speed Championship at the 2008 Horse of the Year (A YouTube Video of this class has been embedded below). Her ability to jump and turn makes her very competitive in jump-offs and speed classes. All her wins and placings are listed below.

At home she has been trained with all the movements to open medium level in dressage. She has always been ridden in a snaffle mouth and has never needed any gadgets in training or competitions. Her ride-ability allows her to be ridden by riders of all levels. Despite her fiesty temperament she is excellent to handle, this includes drenching, clipping, shoeing and travelling.
